PUBLIC SAFETY
My top priority is keeping Diamond bar safe. Our residents deserve to feel safe in their homes, neighborhoods and throughout the city. We need to consider more sheriff patrols, expanding neighborhood watch teams, adding license plate readers and quickly moving our homeless into appropriate shelter. These are easily done and have proven successful everywhere they have been implemented.
HEALTHY
COMMUNITY
Diamond Bar is great for families. We have a quality education system. We have parks, hiking trails, a library and athletic facilities, all of which bring families together. We should look at adding to those options, with more sports courts, better access to our vast open space areas and cultural events that celebrate our diverse community. We also need to develop options for the intentional power outages implemented by Edison during high-fire periods. Our residents should not have to endure days without power to protect others from danger. There is a better solution. We need to make it happen.
REDUCE
TRAFFIC
Congestion and traffic are our most frustrating dilemma in Diamond Bar. We sit at the intersection of three major freeways over which we have little control. Drivers cut through our city on Grand, Pathfinder and Golden Springs. In addition to pushing Caltrans and USDOT to finish the freeway improvements we can better synchronize our traffic lights, fund more traffic officers, and add traffic calming measures to discourage non-local drivers from utilizing our community streets.
FISCAL
RESPONSIBILITY
Diamond Bar is in better fiscal shape than many cities in California. But it is critical that we maintain our focus on long term revenue and avoid structural deficits and overspending. Fiscal responsibility is not optional, it is essential. Our business community provided the sales tax revenue that supports our city services. We need to grow our businesses and implement the Downtown Diamond Bar expansion to increase our dining, retail and entertainment revenue without tax increases. We need to spend wisely, plan carefully and protect the financial stability of our city budget.
